Position Purpose
The Business Development Manager – West & Central Africa is responsible for driving Move One’s commercial growth and market expansion across key countries in the region,
including but not limited to Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, Ghana, DRC, and surrounding territories. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic client relationships, and supporting the company’s positioning as a leading logistics and supply chain partner to humanitarian, governmental, and commercial clients.
1. Business Development and Market Engagement
• Identify and evaluate new business opportunities across West and Central Africa,
monitoring sector trends and client needs in logistics, aid and relief, oil & gas,construction, and government sectors.
• Conduct client research, meetings, and presentations to propose tailored, value-driven logistics and supply chain solutions.
• Support the development and closing of new business by preparing proposals,coordinating pricing strategies, and ensuring complete client onboarding documentation.
• Attend client meetings, trade fairs, and industry events to represent Move One and support the company’s business development initiatives in the region.
• Contribute market intelligence and commercial insights to inform the company’s strategic growth plans.
2. Relationship & Market Development
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients and partners by understanding their evolving operational needs and providing customized solutions.
• Develop and expand the company’s network with government entities, NGOs, UN agencies, and private-sector partners to enhance Move One’s market presence and reputation.
• Serve as a regional point of contact, supporting the coordination of cross-border business initiatives and client account management across multiple West and Central African countries.
3. Leadership, Compliance, and Risk Management
Decision-Making & Business Oversight
Exercise sound judgment in pursuing and managing business opportunities, ensuring alignment with Move One’s commercial objectives and compliance standards. Provide informed recommendations to senior management to support sustainable growth and longterm client partnerships.
Risk Awareness & Compliance
Maintain awareness of regional legal, regulatory, and commercial developments that may affect Move One’s operations or clients. Promptly notify the Africa Manager or senior leadership of any identified risks, compliance concerns, or potential disruptions to business activities.
Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and contractual obligations when representing Move One in any engagement.
Ethical Standards
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity at all times. Represent the company appropriately in all external interactions, including meetings, conferences, and industry events. Report any potential ethical, reputational, or compliance issues immediately to senior management.
4. Reporting & Coordination
Business & Operational Updates
Provide regular reports to the Africa Manager and senior management on business activities, pipeline development, client feedback, and market intelligence. Highlight key trends, competitor activity, and opportunities for growth across the region.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Coordinate closely with Move One offices, operations teams, and regional leadership to ensure strategic alignment and seamless client delivery. Share relevant insights on regional developments and client expectations to inform company-wide planning and decision making.
Candidate Profile
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or business development across West and/or Central Africa.
• Strong understanding of regional market dynamics, customs processes, and crossborder logistics operations.
• Proven ability to build and maintain high-level client relationships, including with government, NGO, and international agency stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Fluency in English and French is essential.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the region.
